HP and the HBP

This FILM, omg! Possibly even better than GoF. I know, gasp! It was just so enjoyable to watch. Firstly, EMMA WATSON FINALLY HAS HER EYEBROWS UNDER CONTROL :O And secondly, everybody's acting in general has improved so much! All the old characters have got better and the new ones were just as good. Despite Jim Broadbent looking nothing like I imagined Slughorn, it made me like his character more than in the book. It was awesome.

I also think this is the first time I screamed out loud in the cinema. Knowing that the Inferi were coming but unsure as to when made it so much worse. I was clinging onto Becky and when that hand leapt out of the water, I went 'AGH!!' and ducked into my coat. I'm *pretty sure* there were several other screamers in the room, followed by a collective muttering of 'oh my god did you see that so scary' (etc).

Anyway, apart from the last 20 minutes or so, the film was absolute comedic genius! For starters, THE PINCERS OH MY GOD THE PINCERS. Becky and I have been doing the pincer fingers at each other all weekend, we found it so hilarious. I heart Pincer!Harry! He is my favourite of all the Harry incarnations.

So here, for my reference more than anything, are my personal highlights (quoted from memory so probably horribly inaccurate):

1. THE PINCERS OMG THE PINCERS.
Hagrid: Spiders have such a bad reputation. I think it's the eyes. They unnerve people.
Harry: Don't forget the pincers. *does clicky pincer finger flail*

2. Ron, high on love potion, toppling off the back of the sofa (lmaooo).

3. Ron: *glomps Slughorn* Hello, darling...

4. CORMAC McLAGGEN AND HIS PROVOCATIVE PROFITEROLES

5. Slughorn: *steals leaves from greenhouse*
Harry: *appears*
Slughorn: AGGGHHH! *cowers*

6. The scuffle for the last unbattered Potions textbook... And the subsequent thump on the shoulder for Ron when he beats Harry to it.

7. Ron plonks himself in the middle of Harry and Ginny getting a bit too close: "... Pie?"

8. Ron: All she wants to do is kiss all the time. Look, my lips are getting all chapped! *leans in to show Harry*
Harry: *flinches*

9. Harry: (about Ginny) She's smart, funny, attractive...
Ron: Attractive?
Harry: You know... She's got nice skin.

What have I forgotten? Me and Becky have been racking our brains trying to remember something that we found hilarious, but not many other people in the cinema seemed to be laughing at. D: I distinctly remember thinking, 'This is really funny! Why aren't more people laughing?' Memory failure, bah.

On a completely random note, I'm going to apply for a job at The Daisy Freezer Centre tomorrow. Well, it's more handing in my CV and hoping that somebody notices and rings me back. I am desperate need of a job, I'm too poor! D: And I really, really want to go and see this film again!

SignalPatterns Personality Traits

Passionate
You are in touch with your emotions, and sometimes you react before you think. (Too true!) The good news: you don't tamp down your feelings. The bad news: you sometimes say or do things that you later wish you could take back. (... Unfortunately also true.)
You do not live your life on an even keel; you do not go for long periods without experiencing some mood swings.

Down-to-Earth
You think that many of those who claim to love art are just being pretentious. (LOL!) As long as something does the job, whether it be a couch, a coat, or a kitchen cabinet, it's "beautiful" as far as you're concerned.
You do not think that having "good taste" is such a big deal, or even that there is such a thing as good taste; nor do you claim that you "can't live without" art, beauty, or good design.
Those who have a high score on the "down-to-earth" trait often hold positions in which they have the opportunity to exercise their organizational expertise.

Accessible
You're comfortable expressing yourself in words and actions, with no self-censorship. You believe that if someone doesn't like what they see it's not your problem, but theirs.
You don't see the need to keep your thoughts to yourself, or to have a zone of privacy that encompasses only yourself and a small circle of friends and relatives.
A high score on the "accessible" trait suggests that you have a lot of friends, socialize often, and enjoy rap/hip-hop music. (You have GOT to be kidding.)

Easygoing
You move at your own pace and take whatever time is needed to master a new skill or get a job done. (That is me all over! I make turtle speed look impressive.) You are what you are, and don't need to see yourself as the world's best whatever.
You do not feel the need to conquer every challenge, be the best at everything you undertake, or win every contest.

Buttoned-Down
You like to know that everything is in its place; it's somehow empowering to know that the world around you is neat and organized. For you, schedules and timelines are great ways to stay on track, and mowing down the items on your "to do" list is a source of happiness. (Hee, I can relate to that.)
You do not believe that a clean, orderly desk is the sign of a person who doesn't have enough to do; you don't thrive on a sense of personal anarchy.

Laid Back
You prefer to do your own thing, in your own way, rather than attempt to force your will, or your ego, on a group. You're happy working on your own, taking your sweet time (a lot of people I know would vouch for this), and focusing on the job at hand.
You're not pushy. You're not interested in imposing your will on others, taking charge of every situation, being the first to raise your hand in class, or insisting on being the winner of every argument.

Impassioned
You have strong opinions and high standards. When others let you down, you're not opposed to giving them a piece of your mind, even if it sometimes mean hurting their feelings.
You are not necessarily a "live and let live" kind of person. You don't always make allowances for others' incompetence or allow annoyances to wash over you. You don't feel it's your job to make everyone feel relaxed and comfortable regardless of whether they've earned it.

Unflappable
You are not a slave to your emotions. It takes a lot to upset or unnerve you. (Um, I'm sure this contradicts some of the other qualities these results say I have...) That's why you're a good person to have around in a crisis.
You don't let it all hang out, which means that those around you often don't know the pressures you're under or what you're going through. You're not the kind of person people run from in a crisis.

Stressed Out
(How can I be stressed out AND laid back?)You often feel that there's too much on your plate, that you don't have the strength to deal with the bad hand you've been dealt, or that you're going to lose it if you have to deal with one more problem.
You don't always bounce back quickly from adversity; sometimes when you get bad news it can hang over you for a long time. (This bit does sound pretty accurate though.)

Curious
You like to get to the bottom of things. You're not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.
You don't simply take things as they are and move on; you're not content skimming along on the surface; you don't feel you're wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.

Meme from siranan

you are aqua
#00FFFF

Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well.

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

the spacefem.com html color quiz

The description sounds just like me, but my colour hurts my eyes.

The Klaxons and Rihanna pairing at The Brits was fantastic, I loved it. How does someone even think of putting them together? Rihanna looked beautiful. And I can't get over how incredibly pretty that keyboard guy off Klaxons is. <3

"Mr Sir Paul McCartney!" LOL.

Me and Jo have decided to go and see Muse live one day. I think the idea crossed my mind last year too, when I saw a clip of them from The Brits that looked amazing. She said she'd come online to upload their album for me but I can't find her, grr.

Ummm, yeah. That's all I had to say. XD

I bring ficlet!

Title: Denial
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 380
Characters: George Weasley
Summary: In the midst of battle, it's just too much. George refuses to believe it.
Notes: Deathly Hallows spoilers

It isn’t possible. George stares at the body, more limp and lifeless than he could ever have imagined it to look. His surroundings become hazy, the cries and screams melting into the background, leaving George gazing blankly at his twin, unable to accept what his eyes keep trying to tell him.

George collapses onto his knees next to Fred and clutches his arm, waiting for him to stir and laugh at all their stricken faces. He can hear distant sobs from behind him; he wants to turn around and tell his mother that everything’s okay, that Fred can’t possibly be dead because he, George, is still alive. He can sense his brothers surrounding him, shocked and silent, because they don’t understand that it must be another elaborate joke of Fred’s that, just this once, he doesn’t quite get.

He contemplates shaking Fred, telling him to wake up because his joke has got too out of hand.

We’ve always known where to draw the line.

George pauses. The words echo in his mind, accompanied by flashes of memories from another life: the first gnome they hid in Percy’s wardrobe, their spectacular vomiting display on the opening day of the shop, the legendary escape from Umbridge’s clutches ... Nothing is like this.

Resolutely though he tries to ignore it, something inside is telling him that there's something wrong. Something missing.

George doesn’t want to believe it. Fred is his brother, his twin; they share the same life. How could it be that half of that life is lost and yet the other still remains?

He closes his eyes and holds Fred tightly, clinging to the hope that his heart, hammering so painfully against his chest, would somehow remind its twin that it was supposed to be doing the same.

He feels a hand on his shoulder. George looks up, expecting – or maybe wishing – to see Fred grinning, ready to chide him for being so easily sucked into such a feeble joke.

Instead, he sees Percy. Percy’s tear-streaked face and his uncharacteristically trembling hand on George’s shoulder. At that moment, George knows it’s real. He only has chance to look back at Fred for a second before his tears blind him. He wraps his arms around his twin’s still form and cries.

Simon Pegg breakdances! It is awesome.

I thought my Spaced obsession had died a little and been overruled by much more negative things, because I wasn't half as squeeful after watching episode 5 as I would've been last week. But getting distracted by YouTube (yet again) made me feel much better. Tim's hats amuse me.

German oral is over and done with! I thought I'd feel more relieved, really. It went okay... there was just a horrible bit in the middle where she asked me to describe a TV show. I went completely blank and kept saying 'um' followed by nothing for about forever. The more I think about it, the worse I think it was. But oh well.

I need to take a leaf out of pinkamethyst's very wise and all-knowing book. Being relaxed is the key to surviving exams. Therefore, I may buy Spaced DVDs to watch during study leave, so I'll have something to keep me from stressing out.

Warning: the following post is very disjointed.

I didn't like last night's Doctor Who. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was something really offputting about the whole thing.

'Any Dream Will Do' was pretty good - way better than the Grease version. I was watching it with my cousins and we all really liked Chris C! It's so cruel telling them who came last in the public vote, when it actually has no impact on who leaves. Not to mention he'll probably be stuck with insecurities about being 'too skinny for Joseph' for the rest of his life. Poor guy.

I discovered that my cousin Becky is a comedy genius btw. She was telling us a little anecdote from her school ski trip last week: one of her friends managed to break the wardrobe in the hotel room, resulting in the entire back of the wardrobe falling off. And then she observed: "We can go to Narnia now!" I thought it was hilarious XD

I need to watch 'Spaced' some day. Has anyone else ever seen it? I only discovered it yesterday after they showed about 30 seconds worth of clips on '50 Greatest Comedy Characters', but I think I love it already. People whose lives play out like films and TV shows as a result of having watched too many of them seems like something I can relate to. And Simon Pegg is the coolest.

'Black Books' and 'State of Play' are also on my watching list, although they'll probably have to wait until the summer. Thank God for YouTube - I'm running out of space on my hard drive. gingersuzal is completely obsessed with 'Black Books' and it does look pretty awesome (Bill Bailey w00!) - it's just finding the time to watch all this stuff that's the problem.

Life On Mars finale

SAM STAYED!!! HE STAYED HE STAYED HE STAYED. I was so happy.

I'm going to try and make this as coherent as possible, but everything's all just mixed up in my head so I think any sense of chronology will be going out of the window.

I actually felt a sense of relief at the end of the episode. That twist in the middle was so good but so horrible at the same time. I felt as overwhelmed as Sam was.

The scene where Sam finds his file in the office made me appreciate just how incredible John Simm is. He needs to win that Bafta! When he cried, I wanted to cry and yell, 'I LOVE YOU SAM' at the TV screen.

"Will you just hold me?" <--- *hugs Sam and never lets go*

And the end! So cute. Sam/Annie is just adorable. <3 And I finally like Ray and Chris. It took a long time, but I got there in the end.

I see a lot of reaction posts floating around the flist - I'll be checking them all soon :D

Life On Mars penultimate episode

When the TV guide said there would be 'a shocking discovery', I was convinced Gene was going to be found guilty. SO glad he wasn't, but the ending was even more omg. I figured the acting DCI was something to do with Sam when Annie pointed out they were 'both from Hyde'. He didn't turn out as evil as I was expecting though.

The squirrel costume was awesome. As was the 'impenetrable' disguise. lol. I loved the chase scene! :D Ray and Chris are such idiots.

Sam: Why are we running?
Gene: Because they're chasing us!

Hahaha. I don't want Life On Mars to finish!

It's Life On Mars day :D

Philip Glenister is so cool. It's so typical that I start watching Life On Mars just as it's about to finish. *sigh*

'The Prestige' is a pretty good film. Actually, it's really good, but just a little morbid for my liking. And I had to concentrate to keep up. lol. There is a huge twist at the end that I never saw coming... but that's all I'm saying.

I think my TV and film-watching is drastically outweighing the revision proportion of my Easter holiday so far. I've made a revision timetable thing (but only after I started panicking because Ali described how much she was planning on doing over these couple of weeks). I'm concentrating on my language orals first, and then I'll probably get round to the rest of the revision when study leave starts. I think I shall have to take a break from Internet when study leave comes.

It's the Easter holidays!

OMG DOCTOR WHO STARTS TONIGHT :D

They voted off the Doctor! I thought it would be David Tennant and John Barrowman to make it to the end of The Weakest Link.

I never knew Simon Pegg was in an episode of Doctor Who until they had the question about Satellite 5. Completely missed it. Probably because I didn't actually know who he was at the time.

But after hearing that, I finally remembered that's who John Simm reminds me of! I was trying to explain to Jo yesterday how much he looked like *someone* when he was in 'The Yellow House' but I couldn't remember who it was. Then when I asked my uncle to explain to my auntie who Simon Pegg was (even though she has already seen 'Hot Fuzz'), he said the exact same thing about the freaky resemblance. And then I just got really excited about everything all over again.

OMG DOCTOR WHO ON SATURDAY!!

So much excellent TV. Even though I'm getting excited about Doctor Who, I have decided that Life On Mars is officially my new favourite TV show. I love Sam, he is the sweetest character! Next week's looks really awesome. Gene gets arrested :O *excited*

I assume everyone has seen the new HP covers! tirwen_star03 and I have been meticulously studying the information in the inside flap to work out the possible plotlines for the 7th book. We have discovered the plot twist at the end involves a giant ball of pink fuzz and a banana riding Nagini the cantaloupe with legs. (Available smilies were somewhat limited.)

By the way, this is very funny. "They didn't study" - amusing things written in exams.

I have a new layout! To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I like it that much. I may make another one in the Easter holidays. But with the weather finally feeling like spring, my Doctor Who layout seemed a little out of season.

I'm really looking forward to study leave now. Gina's managed to get me all excited about having all the spare time (can't spend it all working, can I?). I'm planning to catch up on all the Skins episodes I've missed, watch Life On Mars S1, watch the most recent series of Top Gear and work backwards from there... and try and get through my film list.

Me, Gina and Jo are already planning a couple of days in the holidays dedicated to movie watching. :D We're going for a couple of 'intellectual' films ('A Beautiful Mind' and 'The Last King of Scotland') on one day, and then some fluffier films ('Little Miss Sunshine' and 'Starter For Ten') on another. I can't wait for the extra long summer holiday.

I want to go to the cinema again. I think 'Amazing Grace' is probably next on the list, and then 'Mr Bean's Holiday', hehe. :D

And finally, a meme courtesy of the lovely teenagelogic:

The Challenge: Assemble a superteam from your various fandoms.
Your team must consist of the following:
(1) Team Leader
(1) Warrior
(1) Smartypants
(1) Hottie
(1) Comic Relief
All your superteam members must be from DIFFERENT fandoms.

1. Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood). Because he rocks. :D

2. Gene Hunt (Life On Mars). To scare the life out of the bad guys!

3. Artemis Fowl. How could I not include my favourite criminal mastermind in the team?

4. Cedric Diggory (HP). I think 'hottie' sums him up perfectly.

5. Jeff (Coupling). I love him! The 'giggle loop' is genius lmao.

And I would roll 500 miles...

PIERS MORGAN GOT FIRED. :D

Yes, I know I'm almost a week late with my Comic Relief update... I don't even know what I've been doing that's eaten up all my time, but Internet hasn't been it. Anyway, Comic Relief was awesome. The Catherine Tate sketches were really funny - I couldn't believe Tony Blair actually did the 'am I bovvered?' thing! And I also found it hard to believe that the Top Gear team managed to pull off their performance lmao. And it was actually good! (Mostly.)

I watched Life On Mars and the Skins repeat yesterday. I'm officially addicted to Life On Mars.

Ray: I haven't been to the pub for 36 hours.

Sam: (ponders the situation) ... Shit.

As for Skins, the trailer for the big finale looks dramatic. *excited* I probably won't get to watch it tomorrow, so I'll remain in suspense until Tuesday...

Chris is going to propose! Awww. I love him. Although him and Angie together is just wrong. It would help if I liked her, but I don't (as Gina and I were discussing earlier).

The end of yesterday's episode was very sweet with Tony and Sid's heart to heart. I like Tony marginally better, but he is still pretty evil.

General TV post (",)

- Primeval: Way better than I expected. When they first aired the pilot, I got bored halfway through and gave up, but last night's episode was much better. All the comparisons with Doctor Who made me expect something a lot more light-hearted... but I suppose something different is always good. I'm not sure I really like the central character very much though.

- John Barrowman: He's popping up all over the place again. First the lottery, then Al Murray's Happy Hour (a bit of an annoying show, but funny nonetheless). I finally found out why he always speaks in an American accent on TV but in a Scottish one with his parents! (Because the kids made fun of his accent when he moved to America at the age of 9, for anyone as clueless as I was.) His Scottish accent is amazing, I don't know why he doesn't use it more often.

- Liverpool v. Man Utd: Liverpool totally owned that game. They should've won! From what I could tell from the highlights, Man U barely did anything (apart from Paul Scholes trying to knock Xabi out, obviously) all the way until added time... when of course they scored. Irony sucks.

- TV tonight: Grey's Anatomy is finally back on Channel 5! :D I'll have to tape it, because I am determined to watch Top Gear properly for the first time as it's the Brit Awards one. Hopefully I won't be blind after all this TV.

Too many films I want to see, nowhere near enough time. Damn all this coursework. This weekend I need to do Food Tech, next week I have Maths, and then maybe I'll have time to see 'Hot Fuzz' at the cinema. I've heard it's really funny, so it's just a matter of convincing everyone else that they want to come watch it with me. :D

I have to find time somewhere in between to buy Millie's birthday present. We're planning to go and see 'Becoming Jane' - yay James McAvoy! - for her birthday. I only saw the trailer last night but it doesn't look too bad, and as I previously mentioned... James McAvoy. (Need to watch 'The Last King of Scotland' when it comes out on DVD. At least that way I'll have cushions ready to hide behind.)

Anyway, here is my film list of stuff I would like to see this year (ones I've seen are in bold):

1. Hot Fuzz
2. Becoming Jane
3. The Last King of Scotland
4. Happy Feet
5. Night at the Museum
6. The Wedding Crashers
7. Ice Age 2
8. The Prestige
9. Shaun of the Dead
10. Epic Movie
11. Jurassic Park (is it weird that I've never seen this?)
12. Legally Blonde
13. Little Miss Sunshine
14. A Beautiful Mind
15. Starter For Ten
16. Rocky
17. Mr Bean's Holiday
18. The Holiday
19. Ocean's Twelve
20. Ocean's Thirteen
20. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
21. Anchorman
22. Spider-Man 3
23. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
24. Phantom of the Opera
25. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
26. The Holiday
27. Transformers
28. The Simpsons Movie
29. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
30. Hairspray
31. Atonement
32. Ratatouille
33. Stardust
34. Miracle on 34th Street

Busy year.

I have the same birthday as Steve Coogan! Hee. Just a random fact for the day. I may start watching 'I'm Alan Partridge'... my uncles and aunties were always talking about it when I was little and I always wondered what exactly it was. The only thing I know about it is "Aha!" and I don't even know where that came from.

It's nearly Red Nose Day! :D I love Comic Relief. I finally bought my red nose today along with the little RND 07 badge because it looks cute. The nose is HUGE. Also smells a little weird, but looks great. :D

Russell Howard on Buzzcocks was so so funny. :D I thought he was actually better than Ed last week. Their teasing of Simon Amstell's 'snotty-faced public schoolboy'-ness was great - Russell's Ferrero Rocher comment with the accent was genius.

I want to watch ER tonight. It looks really good from the trailers! Ali and Gina seem to like it, and seeing as there's nothing else to watch on a Thursday any more, I shall see if it's any good. I may have to catch the repeat at 10, considering I have History coursework to do for tomorrow. Which I still haven't started. Beginning to think that I should stop watching Ed Byrne and start writing about 19th century back-to-back houses.

School is annoying. I felt completely exhausted after finally finishing my Pride and Prejudice coursework last night yet it seemed like my eyes had been glued open so I couldn't actually get to sleep. Now we're diving straight into Speaking and Listening coursework, where we have to sit in a little group in front of the rest of the class and discuss a topic for 10 minutes. We basically just improvise. Only problem is, I suck at talking under pressure without a script. Disaster is on the horizon.

Still obsessing somewhat over Mock the Week. Still doing David Mitchell's little pointing thing. :P Jo said that since she's started watching Mock the Week nonstop, her general speaking abilities have improved because it's rubbing off on her. Therefore, I plan to start watching some episodes from the first series to give me a vocab boost too and hopefully it will prepare me a little more for the discussion. Might as well use the evils of coursework to my advantage. ;o)

The O.C. has turned weird. The plotline for the Chrismukkah episode was about alternate universes. I know that The O.C. has never been 100% credible, but I expected it to be a little more plausible than that.

The Nintendo Wii is amazing. Makes your arms ache for days, but it is cool.

Grey's Anatomy is finally coming to Channel 5! It seems like they've been showing it on Sky for ages, but forgot that some people still have normal TV/Freeview.

*falls over laughing* teenagelogic is "*is too busy giving out stun-guns to the lesbians to answer*".
OH MY GOD MOCK THE WEEK. I never realised how much funny stuff they cut out of the normal shows! I literally jumped out of my seat in excitement when Frankie mentioned slash fiction lmao. If I were him, I would be quite disturbed. :P

After seeing David Mitchell's little "ba-dom-bom *point*" thing, Gina and I were repeatedly doing it across the classroom at Jo today.
I am feeling so much better than I did this afternoon. And I did actually start doing some of my Geography homework! I didn't get very far, but I feel proud of myself all the same. I'm also feeling much more creative, so I think an icon making spree is in the works. :D

I just found this that also helped to cheer me up:

"It seems that lovable floppy-haired Irish comedian Ed Byrne is releasing a series of short stand-up videos on the internet. The comedian from Dublin has created a series of 3-minute stand up clips called Ed Byrne’s Bytes, exclusively for MSN Video. Containing fresh and exciting material, a new clip will be uploaded onto the site each day from Monday 19th February until Friday 2nd March, providing three minutes of light comic relief for anyone who tends to be tied to their computer all day.

The clips can be viewed online at video.uk.msn.com and for those who can’t get online each day, they will remain available to view on the site until May. While visiting MSN Video, comedy fans should also take time out to enjoy the best of Jongleurs stand up clips, which will be streamed on site for the next six months."

Lovable and floppy-haired lmao! Cute. I have something to look forward to again - cushions the blow of going back to school haha.
